Astrophotography / Digital Imaging Contest
Contest Coordinator
David Moulton - EMAIL
This year's contest will have 2 categories, each split into beginner and unlimited sub-categories. There will be no specific rule for placing an entrant into one of the sub-categories, but please leave the beginner sub-category to those new to the hobby.
Categories
Nightscapes
These are images taken with a camera and lens. They can be guided or unguided. The image must be wide-field and include the horizon and some of the foreground. Brief (up to 10-second) animations are allowed.
Deep Sky
These are narrow-field images taken with a telescope or camera lens. They can be any deep sky object but must meet the below rules. Be sure to specify what object you have captured in your entry.
Rules
These rules apply to both categories.
1) All images and sub-frames must be captured during Astrocon 2025.
2) They must be captured at Bryce Canyon National Park but cannot be captured in the public star party area.
3) All processing must take place during the convention.
4) The final results of all entries must be submitted to the contest coordinator before 7 am on June 28, 2025.
5) Only one image per contestant will be accepted. Let's have your best!
The submissions will be judged by a panel of three. A Gold, Silver, and Bronze winner will be selected for each of the four sub-categories. All entered images will be displayed during the awards banquet on Saturday night.
Final images should be submitted to the contest coordinator, including a description of the object or field of view and your name. Images must be in .jpeg or .png format. If you are submitting an animated nightscape, it should be in .mov or .mp4 format.
If you wish to enter the contest, please complete and submit this electronic form.
